Months after the shocking loss of R&B legend Angie Stone, her children are seeking justice in court. On September 2, Diamond Stone and Michael D’Angelo Archer filed a lawsuit in Atlanta against a trucking company and a vehicle manufacturer, according to Page Six.

Details of the Tragic March 1 Accident

The complaint outlines the events of March 1 in Alabama, a day that began with a van accident and ended in tragedy. Angie Stone was traveling with her crew in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van when the vehicle overturned on Interstate 65.

While Angie survived the initial crash, she was fatally struck moments later by an 18-wheeler traveling at 70 mph. Authorities report that the collision threw her from the van and pinned her beneath the truck, resulting in her death.

The lawsuit claims multiple points of negligence, including:

    • The truck driver was distracted at the time of impact
    • The truck’s braking system failed to engage properly
    • No apparent attempt to slow down before striking Angie

Emergency responders transported the van driver and seven passengers to nearby hospitals, but Angie was declared dead at the scene.

    Official Confirmation from Authorities

The Alabama Highway Patrol confirmed the sequence of events, noting that the Sprinter flipped before colliding with a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia. The tragic accident has since sparked both mourning and calls for accountability.

Family Pays Tribute to Angie Stone

In the wake of her passing, Angie Stone’s family shared a statement with 11Alive, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support:

“It is with heavy hearts that the children of the R&B Singer Angie Stone along with her extended family want to thank you all for your love and well wishes at what is an extremely difficult time.”

The family highlighted Angie’s enduring influence:

“Angie was an example for Black women and girls everywhere. Angie also loved and championed for Black Men with her number one hit entitled ‘Brotha.’ Angie Stone believed in giving back to her fans and the community with her Foundation, ‘Angel Stripes, the Angie Stone Foundation.’ She lived and died doing what she loved most, which was music.”

    Seeking Justice Through Legal Action

The lawsuit filed by Diamond Stone and Michael D’Angelo Archer aims to hold both the trucking company and the manufacturer accountable for negligence. Fans and the music community continue to rally around Angie Stone’s legacy, ensuring her contributions to R&B and her community are not forgotten.

    • Chain of Events: Sprinter van overturn → Angie struck by 18-wheeler → Fatality
    • Alleged Negligence: Distracted driver, braking failure, lack of pre-impact action
    • Family Tribute: Celebrates Angie’s music, activism, and legacy

    Honoring Angie Stone’s Legacy

Angie Stone’s passing left a void in the R&B world, but her impact continues through her music, foundation work, and family advocacy. As the lawsuit progresses, fans are watching closely, hoping that justice will be served in memory of the late singer.
