In heartbreaking news, beloved Food Network star Anne Burrell has passed away at the age of 55, and authorities are now investigating the cause of her death as a possible drug overdose, TMZ reports.

Fans of Burrell — known for her larger-than-life personality, signature spiky blonde hair, and no-nonsense cooking style — are stunned as details emerge surrounding her sudden and tragic death.

Found Unresponsive by Husband in Their Brooklyn Home

According to law enforcement sources, Anne’s husband, Stuart Claxton, discovered her unconscious on the floor of their shower early Tuesday morning in their Brooklyn residence.

He had reportedly last seen her alive around 1 AM the previous night. Between 6 and 7 hours later, he found her unresponsive and immediately called 911.

Sources say the 911 dispatcher instructed Stuart to begin CPR, but Anne’s body was reportedly cold, and it remains unclear whether CPR was ever successfully performed.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

???? Pills Found Nearby — Police Probe Possible Overdose

TMZ reports that responding NYPD officers found multiple pills in the bathroom where Anne was discovered, raising the possibility of an accidental or intentional overdose.

As of now, no official cause of death has been released, and the Medical Examiner is conducting a full autopsy and toxicology analysis.

The investigation remains open, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether foul play or self-harm are suspected.

???? Anne Burrell: A Culinary Powerhouse and TV Icon

Anne rose to fame as a fan-favorite chef on Food Network, with her brash, funny, and fiercely competitive energy winning over audiences across the country.

She was best known as the fiery host of “Worst Cooks in America,” where she mentored kitchen rookies with tough love and sharp wit.

    Burrell’s culinary credentials included:

    • Studying at The Culinary Institute of America
    • Training in Italy
    • Working in some of New York’s top kitchens
    • Authoring multiple best-selling cookbooks
    • Appearing on shows like Iron Chef America, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and Chef Wanted

Her influence stretched beyond food. Anne inspired countless women in a male-dominated industry to speak louder, cook harder, and never apologize for being bold.

???? Her Marriage to Stuart Claxton

Anne married Stuart Claxton in a charming fall wedding in October 2021 in her hometown of Cazenovia, New York. The couple had been together since 2018 and often shared sweet moments online and in interviews.

Friends say the two had a close bond, and Stuart’s devastation in the wake of her passing has been palpable.

“She was not just a chef. She was a force,” one close friend told TPR. “Losing her like this is unimaginable.”

Tributes Pour In From Fans and Fellow Chefs

As news of her death spread, tributes began pouring in from across the food world and beyond.

“Anne Burrell was one of the brightest lights in food television. Her presence, her laughter, her no-nonsense heart — we’ll miss all of it,” said a Food Network spokesperson in a statement.

Social media lit up with messages from fellow chefs and loyal fans:

“She made food FUN again,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“Thank you, Anne, for showing women they could be loud, messy, and still the best in the kitchen,” another posted.

    ????️ What Happens Next

The NYPD will await toxicology results to determine if drugs played a definitive role in Anne’s untimely death. At this point, there are more questions than answers.

The Food Network has not yet announced whether Worst Cooks in America will continue or how it plans to honor her legacy on-air.

Meanwhile, her husband, family, and fans mourn an irrepressible spirit gone far too soon.
