Ari Fletcher is pushing back after critics accused her of being a “deadbeat” mom because her son, Yosohn, lives in Atlanta with her mother.
The model addressed the criticism online, explaining that her mother’s role in Yosohn’s life is part of a deliberate family arrangement — not, as critics have suggested, a sign that she has stepped away from parenting.
Ari said she “retired” her mother so grandma could serve as Yosohn’s nanny and homeschool teacher. She also pointed out that her mother is currently working toward her third master’s degree.
In Ari’s telling, the setup allows her mother to care for Yosohn while also having her financial needs covered.
She then turned the criticism back on those questioning the arrangement, saying she hopes they can eventually reach a point where they are able to retire their own parents and allow them to live financially free.
But the explanation did not end the online debate.
Critics questioned the idea of describing her mother as “retired” while she is reportedly handling nanny, homeschooling and parenting responsibilities for Yosohn. Others continued asking why Yosohn lives with his grandmother in the first place.
Yosohn is Ari’s son with rapper G Herbo, and the former couple have experienced public drama surrounding their co-parenting relationship over the years.
Ari later entered a high-profile relationship with rapper Moneybagg Yo, adding another layer to her public life.
Still, Ari’s latest response centers on one point: she says her mother is not simply stepping in because she has been forced to pick up the slack.
According to Ari, grandma is part of the plan — and she wants critics to understand the difference between receiving family support and neglecting a child.
