Ashanti & Nelly Ready for Baby No. 2: “A Girl Would Be Great”
Ashanti is embracing motherhood and already thinking about growing her family.
In a recent interview with E!, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter shared her joy over becoming a mom and how much her life has changed since welcoming her first child with Nelly in November.
“I am feeling amazing, incredibly pleased, humbled,” Ashanti said. “My life has completely changed for the better. I feel full, you know? My cup is full.”
Expanding the Family
The R&B star then revealed that she and Nelly are eager to have more children.
“We’re going to add some more,” Ashanti said. “Definitely a girl to balance it out. I’m outnumbered in the house right now, so a girl would be great.”
Their son, Kareem Kenkaide, was born in November, and Ashanti later revealed that she named him after her father.
“[That] is my dad’s name,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “And obviously my dad has only girls, so Nelly was just like, ‘I think that would be really, really dope.’ And this was all his idea.”
A Private Wedding & A New Reality Show
Following Kareem’s birth, Ashanti and Nelly tied the knot in a private ceremony last December in St. Louis. The couple has since been enjoying family life, with Nelly praising Ashanti’s dedication to motherhood.
“She’s an awesome mom,” Nelly said. “To watch someone care so much and give their all—it’s amazing.”
Now, the couple is letting fans in on their journey. Ashanti and Nelly are set to star in a new reality TV series, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their relationship and family life.
According to reports, the docuseries is expected to premiere on Peacock and has been in production for months.
