BenDaDonnn is giving his side of the story after his weekend arrest in Texas, claiming an overly aggressive police officer turned a routine encounter with his group into a full-blown confrontation.
The social media personality addressed the incident while wearing an orange Department of Corrections uniform, saying the trouble started when an officer began yelling at his group to get onto the sidewalk.
According to BenDaDonnn, he and his friends immediately followed the officer’s instructions. He claims they moved quickly, but the officer still put his hands on him and other members of the group.
That allegedly triggered an argument, with the situation escalating until BenDaDonnn was tased and taken into custody.
He was booked into Brazos County Jail on a charge of evading arrest or detention.
BenDaDonnn also wasn’t exactly holding back when describing the officer. In his video, he compared the cop’s appearance to Kip, the older brother of the titular character in Napoleon Dynamite.
But police have a very different account of how the confrontation unfolded.
The College Station Police Department previously told TMZ that the group ignored what officers described as lawful commands. Police also allege that one of BenDaDonnn’s security guards slapped an officer’s hands away while officers were attempting to detain the internet personality.
The man police identified as claiming to be BenDaDonnn’s security guard, Kenny Carter, was subsequently charged with interference with public duties.
That creates two sharply different versions of the moments leading up to the arrest: BenDaDonnn says he and his crew complied and were met with unnecessary force, while police allege the group failed to follow commands and that a security guard interfered with the detention.
For now, those accounts remain at odds.
The arrest has now become a public back-and-forth over what happened on the sidewalk — and BenDaDonnn clearly wants his followers hearing his version of the story.
