Jodi Vance, a rising bodybuilder, tragically passed away at the age of 20 following a medical emergency on February 27. New details, revealed through a 911 call obtained by TMZ Sports, shed light on the moments leading up to her untimely death.

In the distressing call, placed by Vance’s wife, the couple was staying at a hotel in Columbus, Ohio, for the Arnold Sports Festival. Vance had been vomiting throughout the morning and was unresponsive by the time her wife sought emergency help.

According to the audio, Vance’s wife told the dispatcher that the bodybuilder had been “passed out in bed” and was unresponsive despite their attempts to wake her. She explained, “She won’t wake up,” and added that Vance had been groaning and vomiting before losing consciousness. The dispatcher assured her help was on the way, but sadly, Vance was pronounced dead shortly after.

    Cause of Death: Severe Dehydration

In a statement issued on social media, Vance’s family confirmed the tragic cause of death. They explained that her “heart stopped due to complications of severe dehydration,” which contributed to the devastating outcome.

    Vance’s Legacy in Bodybuilding

Jodi Vance, a dedicated bodybuilder who had recently placed third in the Women’s Physique division at the 2024 NPC Battle of Texas, was also known for her work as a coach and brand specialist for Better Bodies and Gasp.

Her coach, Justin Mihaly, commented on the tragedy, stating that Vance should not have been using any dangerous substances, especially since her next competition was months away. Despite this, he suspected she may have used them, hinting at possible contributing factors to her passing.

Her death marks an unimaginable loss for the bodybuilding community, with friends, family, and fans mourning her passing.
