Charles Barkley Blasts ESPN and Kendrick Perkins in Fiery Rant: ‘Fool and Idiot!’ – Perkins Fires Back

Things are about to get awkward at ESPN next year, as NBA legend Charles Barkley went off on the network and his future colleague Kendrick Perkins in a fiery, no-holds-barred rant on “Inside the NBA.”

Barkley Calls Out ESPN and Perkins

The outspoken basketball analyst slammed ESPN for what he sees as excessive coverage of the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, arguing that teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder deserve more attention. Barkley didn’t hold back while discussing the issue with co-hosts Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny “The Jet” Smith.

“I saw a fool, idiot on TV talking about the Lakers saving the NBA,” Barkley said. “He’s an idiot and a fool. We know he is. What’s his name, Shaq? Kendrick Perkins.”

The TNT veteran took specific aim at Perkins, mocking his recent assertion that the Lakers had “saved the NBA season” after an impressive two-week stretch.

Barkley Takes Aim at ESPN’s Narrative

But Barkley didn’t stop at Perkins—he extended his criticism to ESPN as a whole, calling the network out for pushing repetitive narratives.

“That’s because of them fools at the other network, which we’re going to be working at next year—that’s all they talk about,” Barkley continued, referring to ESPN’s consistent focus on the Lakers and Warriors.

Barkley also took a shot at the network’s long-running LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan debate, calling it stale and unimaginative.

“This lame-ass LeBron James-Michael Jordan debate—I’ve said it for years, the only people talking about LeBron and Michael are people on television who got no talent to talk about anything else.”

Perkins Responds with a Fiery Warning

Kendrick Perkins wasted no time clapping back at Barkley’s comments. Taking to social media, Perkins made it clear he wasn’t going to let Barkley’s words slide.

“Hey @NBAonTNT, might wanna tell that senior citizen Charles Barkley that I’ll be around,” Perkins wrote. “When he sees an idiot or fool in person, make sure he keeps that same energy.”

Perkins, a proud Texas native, added a stern warning:

“He can come playing with me if he want to, and I’mma address his ass like the numbers on a house. Straight from the 409, homeboy. We bar none and fade all. #TexasBoy.”

Inside the NBA’s Move to ESPN

As previously reported, TNT’s beloved “Inside the NBA” will be moving to ESPN next season after Warner Bros. Discovery lost its NBA broadcasting rights. While the show is widely celebrated by fans, it has drawn criticism from some current NBA players who feel Barkley and the crew are too negative about today’s game.

Given Barkley’s unfiltered style and Perkins’ fiery personality, their time working together at ESPN could be explosive. One thing is for sure—next year’s ESPN holiday party is bound to be interesting.

Stay tuned for more NBA drama as the Barkley-Perkins showdown continues!
