Newly surfaced footage is shedding light on the nightclub fight that landed Chris Brown in court, with video reportedly showing the singer repeatedly swinging a tequila bottle at music producer Abraham Diaw in London.
The footage, released by TMZ on October 26, appears to show Brown confronting Diaw on a crowded dance floor during the February 2023 incident. Brown can be seen striking the producer several times, including around the head, before the confrontation escalates into a wider brawl.
According to the report, the altercation lasts approximately 20 seconds. Diaw was reportedly taken to the hospital with injuries to his head and knee.
Hoody Baby Also Involved in the Brawl
The footage also appears to show Omololu Akinlolu, Brown’s friend and vocal coach, joining the fight. Akinlolu, who is also known as Hoody Baby, is seen grabbing Diaw and throwing punches, according to the report.
Both men faced legal consequences over the incident.
The video’s release comes after Brown was sentenced on Monday to an eight-month prison term, suspended for 12 months, after pleading guilty to affray in connection with the attack.
A suspended sentence means Brown will not serve the prison term immediately, provided he complies with the applicable conditions. A breach could lead to further legal consequences.
Akinlolu received a four-month suspended prison sentence, also suspended for 12 months, for his role in the altercation.
Judge Described Bottle Strikes as Dangerous
During sentencing, the judge reportedly described Brown’s repeated use of the bottle as dangerous. The case’s outcome underscores that Brown’s guilty plea resulted in a criminal sentence, even though he avoided immediate imprisonment.
The footage provides a visual account of the incident that led to the proceedings. However, the legal outcome should be distinguished from the video itself: Brown pleaded guilty to affray, and the sentence was imposed by the court.
The video’s release adds another development to a case dating back more than three years. Further details may emerge as the story develops.
