Diddy Trial Begins: Juror Raises Eyebrows Over Massage Therapist Job and Sister’s Abuse History

The high-profile federal criminal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs officially kicked off Monday in a packed New York City courtroom, and the first day brought some eyebrow-raising moments during jury selection. One prospective juror, identified as Juror No. 2, may prove especially controversial for both sides due to his unique profession and personal family history.

    Juror’s Background Raises Concerns

Presiding Judge Arun Subramanian began vetting prospective jurors based on their answers to a pre-filled questionnaire. Juror No. 2 revealed he’s a massage therapist — a detail that could play a surprising role in this case. According to federal prosecutors, Diddy allegedly purchased baby oil in bulk to use during so-called “Freak Offs” — lengthy drug-fueled sex sessions that reportedly involved the Bad Boy mogul, his girlfriends, and male escorts.

Prosecutors claim these encounters often included coercion and abuse, making the masseur’s occupation — and familiarity with body oil — unexpectedly relevant to the themes of the case.

Celebrity Connections and Domestic Violence History

The judge also questioned Juror No. 2 about his familiarity with celebrities listed in the jury materials. The man said he recognized actors Michael B. Jordan and Mike Myers, and had worked at two luxury Manhattan hotels mentioned in the case: Essex House and The Peninsula.

More strikingly, the juror disclosed his sister had once been beaten by her ex-husband, resulting in a black eye and a subsequent divorce. Despite this, he insisted he could remain impartial — even in light of the now-infamous surveillance footage of Diddy allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway.

Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo challenged the juror’s eligibility, but Judge Subramanian overruled him, saying he could use a peremptory strike if he wanted to remove him without providing a reason.

    Charges and Trial Stakes

Diddy faces five federal charges, including:

    • Two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion
    • Two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution
    • One count of racketeering conspiracy

These charges stem from disturbing allegations involving drugs, coercion, and violent sexual conduct. Diddy has pled not guilty to all charges.

    Victims May Attend Trial

Meanwhile, civil attorney Ariel Mitchell — who represents three of Diddy’s alleged victims, with a fourth soon to be added — told TMZ her clients may attend the trial to witness justice firsthand. Those clients include Sara Rivers, Ashley Parham, and LaTroya Grayson.

Mitchell said, “We are looking into logistics to ensure whoever wants to attend may be afforded the opportunity to see their abuser be brought to justice.”

    Diddy in Court

Diddy appeared in court wearing a formal suit and reading glasses, listening quietly to the proceedings. Observers noted he was sporting a full head of gray hair as the jury selection process began.

    Stay Tuned

With major legal stakes, celebrity intrigue, and emotional testimonies expected, the Diddy trial promises to be one of the most closely-watched courtroom dramas in recent memory. The PopRadar will continue providing comprehensive coverage throughout the trial.
