Eddy Kenzo Claps Back at Bebe Cool: “I’m Not Responsible for Anybody’s Ignorance”

Ugandan music superstar Eddy Kenzo has fired back at fellow artist Bebe Cool, urging for a more inclusive and progressive approach to how the government supports the music industry.

Speaking in an interview following Bebe Cool’s appearance on the Talk and Talk show, Kenzo addressed the veteran singer’s claim that he deserves billions of shillings from the government due to his long-standing influence in the industry.

???? “It Can’t Just Be About Two or Three People”

Kenzo rejected the idea that only a few individuals should benefit from government funding, emphasizing that Uganda’s music industry is wide and diverse.

“The idea doesn’t work for me because the music industry doesn’t revolve around just two or three people,” Kenzo stated.
“It’s broad, and government funding is meant to serve everyone.”

He noted that equitable support is necessary for nurturing emerging talent and sustaining the entire creative ecosystem.

    ???? “I’m Not Responsible for Anybody’s Ignorance”

Bebe Cool also took a swipe at Kenzo’s international status, questioning whether the Sitya Loss star could truly be considered a global artist.

But Kenzo—Uganda’s first-ever BET Award winner and a celebrated global performer—shrugged off the remarks.

“Everyone has their choice to see and analyze things the way they want,” Kenzo said.
“So if he said I’m not global, he might be correct in his ignorance. I’m not responsible for anybody’s ignorance.”

Kenzo added that his achievements speak for themselves and that arguing about his global status is pointless.

“The facts and reality are there. So there’s no need to argue with certain remarks like Bebe Cool’s.”

⚖️ A Call for Unity Over Ego

Kenzo’s response has been praised by fans who believe that government support should uplift the entire industry, not just long-established artists.

He emphasized the importance of professionalism, unity, and respect in shaping Uganda’s music future—especially as the industry continues to gain international recognition.

    ???? What’s your take?
Should government funding in music be merit-based and inclusive?
Is Bebe Cool right to demand compensation—or is Kenzo’s broader vision more fitting?
