From the Bronx to Bieber: Cash Cobain Scores Major Win on Justin’s “SWAG” Album

Cash Cobain just secured his biggest flex yet.
The NYC rapper-producer, who helped pioneer the “sexy drill” wave, has gone from borough buzz to Billboard charts—thanks to a surprise collaboration with none other than Justin Bieber.

Their song, featured as Track 18 on Bieber’s new album SWAG, dropped without warning but hit heavy. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, racking up 163,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. And with it, Cash Cobain has officially crossed into pop’s inner circle—without losing an ounce of his sauce.

It All Started With “Trippin on a Yacht”

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Cash broke down exactly how the unexpected collab came to life—and it’s a modern music fairy tale.

After Bieber publicly vibed to Cash’s viral track “Trippin on a Yacht,” fans flooded the comments, tagging Cash and begging for a link-up. He wasted no time.

“I followed him and messaged like, ‘Now we got to work. We got to get something in,’” Cash told Rolling Stone.
Bieber’s response? Simple but solid: “All right, bet. Definitely got to do it. I f** with your s***.”*

A Studio Session at Casa Bieber

Not long after, Cash pulled up to Bieber’s home studio—laptops open, speakers booming, vibes high.

“He’s swaggy,” Cash said. “He’s been on the swag s** for a little minute. But we was talking regular s***, too. We cool. He’d check on me like, ‘I’m just checking on you.’”*

That organic energy translated into sound. The two artists started tossing around melodies, ideas, and beats—just two creatives in flow, no ego, no label politics.

From Vibe to Billboard: The Collab Is Born

Eventually, they landed on a beat that felt right. Bieber told Cash he was trying to get the track onto the album.

“A day or two later, it was out,” Cash said. “Track 18.”
The song also features Eddie Benjamin, another genre-fluid talent tapped into Bieber’s creative world.

The whole moment felt surreal, even for Cash—who’s been grinding in NYC’s underground for years.

“Man, who hasn’t been listening to Justin Bieber?” he added. “Come on, it’s Bieber.”

    Sexy Drill Goes Global

For those unfamiliar, Cash Cobain is the face of “sexy drill”—a softer, flirtier spin on New York drill that pairs punchy basslines with playful, often provocative lyrics. His beats have been sampled and spun by everyone from Ice Spice to B-Lovee, but this moment with Bieber signals something bigger:

Sexy drill has officially gone global.

And what makes this collab so special is how naturally it unfolded. No major-label red tape. No forced studio pairing. Just two artists recognizing the vibe—and letting it breathe.

What This Means for the Culture

Cash Cobain linking with Bieber isn’t just a win for him—it’s a win for every underground artist breaking the mold. It proves that mainstream stars are paying attention, and they’re willing to make room at the table for the next wave.

Plus, it signals Bieber’s continued shift into genre-bending experimentation. After years of pop stardom, he’s clearly more interested in authenticity than algorithms.

And Cash? He’s just getting started.

What Do You Think of the Collab?

Did Bieber just co-sign the future of NYC drill? Is Cash Cobain on his way to being a household name?
