Florida State University and the Seminoles football community are reeling after freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard was shot while visiting family in Florida.
The college athlete was rushed to a local hospital Sunday night and is currently in the ICU in “critical but stable” condition, according to the school.
What Happened
The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office told WCTV that the shooting occurred before 10 PM near the Havana Heights Apartments. Authorities found Pritchard shot inside a vehicle before EMS transported him to the hospital.
No suspects have been named, and police have not released information about what led to the shooting.

In a statement, Florida State said:
“The Pritchard family is thankful for the support from so many people, as well as the care from first responders and medical professionals, and asks that their privacy be respected at this time.”
Head coach Mike Norvell called the incident a tragic event during a Sunday press conference:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ethan and his family. I visited Ethan and his family in the hospital Saturday night and am grateful for the care he’s receiving from the medical professionals.”
