Halle Bailey has spoken out for the first time amid her ongoing custody dispute with rapper DDG over their one-year-old son, Halo—firmly denying his claims that her mental health poses a threat to their child.
In a new court declaration, Halle says DDG (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) is intentionally distorting her past struggles with mental health in a bid to damage her credibility and gain leverage in court.
Halle: “His Declaration is Misleading and Distorted”
According to Billboard, Halle told the judge:
“His declaration has exaggerated, lied and misconstrued for the court, not only the history of our relationship, but our parenting and my mental health.”
This comes after DDG filed a motion raising concerns over Halle’s past expressions of anxiety and self-harm, suggesting she was unfit to care for Halo. However, Halle pushed back, saying she’s always been proactive about her mental wellness and fully capable as a parent.

In her statement, Halle emphasized that she has consistently addressed her emotional well-being and never let it compromise her parenting:
“I have been very vocal about my anxiety, depression, and previous thoughts of suicide… I have reached out to my doctor and received treatment… I remain 100% capable as a parent.”
She also clarified that many of the incidents DDG referred to date back to 2022 and 2023, during what she described as an emotionally painful time in their relationship—largely caused by DDG’s own behavior.
Halle Accuses DDG of Retaliation
Halle didn’t mince words when addressing DDG’s motives behind the court filings:
“Had Darryl really been concerned about my parenting, he would have taken action prior to this time. This is cold retribution to embarrass, humiliate and cause me additional emotional distress.”
Latest Court Decisions
So far, the court has granted Halle full temporary custody and issued a restraining order against DDG ahead of an originally scheduled June 4 hearing. That hearing was postponed after DDG submitted a competing custody case.
He also filed an emergency motion to block Halle from traveling to Italy with Halo, but the judge denied the request. However, the court did approve a partial restraining order in relation to alleged abuse.
