Kirk Burrowes Alleges Unlawful Seizure and Threats by Diddy’s Mother
Janice Combs, mother of music mogul Diddy, is facing a serious fraud lawsuit filed by Kirk Burrowes, a founding partner of Bad Boy Entertainment. Burrowes accuses Combs of unlawfully seizing a 25 percent stake in the iconic music label, a claim that includes allegations of threats of violence and coercion.
According to Rolling Stone, Burrowes claims he only recently uncovered Janice Combs’ alleged role in a 1996 plot to oust him from the company. He further asserts that he has “irrefutable evidence” proving that Diddy’s mother unlawfully took control of his 25% ownership in Bad Boy Entertainment. Burrowes also accuses Diddy of betraying him, suggesting that the mogul colluded with his mother to push him out of the company where he had once served as president.
Burrowes, who is seeking the restoration of his original stake along with financial damages, also calls for a thorough audit of the label’s financial records. He claims that despite his exit from the company, he remained in communication with Diddy up until 2021, with the mogul pledging to rectify the alleged theft of Burrowes’ ownership interest.
A Long-Standing Legal Battle
This isn’t the first time Burrowes has taken legal action against Diddy. In 2003, he accused the mogul of duping him out of $25 million, alleging that Diddy had stormed into his office armed with a baseball bat and pressured him to surrender his Bad Boy stake. The case was dismissed due to the statute of limitations, but the claims from that lawsuit still linger as Burrowes contends his departure from Bad Boy in 1996 effectively led to his exclusion from the entertainment industry.
