Fans may finally have a reason to get excited: Jay-Z could be returning to the music scene. The rap mogul hasn’t released a studio album since 2017’s 4:44, but longtime collaborator Memphis Bleek hinted that something is brewing.
On Drink Champs, Bleek recalled a recent trip to Vegas with Jay-Z:
“I just was with him in Vegas. He just came out on the show, like, yo, my n-gga, they went stupid.”
Bleek even asked Jay to save him a verse for the project:
“I said, ‘Listen, I know you working. Save me a verse.’ He’s like, ‘Alright, I got you.’ So if it happens, it happens.”
While no official release date has been announced, fans are buzzing at the possibility of new music from one of hip-hop’s biggest icons.
Legal Battles Behind the Scenes
Jay-Z’s potential music comeback comes after a year of legal drama. Earlier in 2025, a woman accused Jay-Z and Diddy of sexually assaulting her as a teenager. The case quickly fell apart under scrutiny, and the accuser eventually withdrew her claims.
Following the dismissal, Jay filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman and her attorney, Tony Buzbee. In the filing, Jay claimed the false accusations caused serious financial harm to him and Roc Nation, including:
- Losing contracts in sports and entertainment worth at least $20 million
- Being denied a $55 million credit line
- Roc Nation being turned down for a $115 million loan
The lawsuit further stated:
“We have agreements to produce entertainment programs for certain sporting events. After Mr. Buzbee filed the lawsuit, the media reported that other businesses could end their deals with Roc Nation, and forced one to speak out and address whether these false allegations would end our business relationship.”
Buzbee Pushes Back, Jay-Z Denies Claims
Tony Buzbee attempted to have the defamation suit dismissed, claiming there was an agreement between both parties. Jay-Z’s legal team strongly denied this, asserting:
“Total lie. He brought a false case, lost badly and was forced to dismiss quickly. End of story.”
With the legal hurdles cleared, Jay-Z now appears to have a clear path to focus on music and new projects.
What This Means for Fans
After nearly six years without a studio album, the potential for new Jay-Z music has the hip-hop world buzzing. Between his legal victories and a Vegas studio session with Memphis Bleek, fans are speculating whether a high-profile comeback is imminent.
