Duane “Keefe D” Davis has begun serving his lengthy prison sentence in Nevada following his conviction in the 1996 murder of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur.
The convicted man was photographed in a new mug shot at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs, Nevada, where he is serving a sentence of 40 years to life.
The latest photograph comes after Davis was transferred to the maximum-security facility following his conviction in one of hip-hop’s most closely watched murder cases.
A jury found Davis guilty in August 2026 of his role in Tupac’s killing. He was subsequently sentenced to 40 years to life in prison, bringing a major development in a case that remained unresolved for nearly three decades.

Prosecutors accused Davis of orchestrating the September 1996 drive-by shooting in Las Vegas as retaliation for an earlier confrontation involving Tupac, members of his entourage and Davis’ nephew, Orlando Anderson, at the MGM Grand.
On the night of the shooting, Tupac was travelling in a BMW with Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight when gunfire struck the vehicle.
The rapper suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died six days later, aged just 25.
According to the prosecution’s case, the gun used in the shooting was allegedly handed to Anderson by Davis. Anderson, who was identified as a central figure in the events surrounding the alleged retaliation, died years before Davis was charged.
Davis remains the only person charged in connection with Tupac’s murder.
Despite the jury’s verdict, his legal team has continued to maintain his innocence and has indicated plans to appeal the conviction.
The case has attracted significant attention because of the years of unanswered questions surrounding the killing of one of hip-hop’s most influential artists.
With Davis now behind bars, the latest development marks another chapter in the decades-long legal saga surrounding Tupac Shakur’s death.
