Kid Capri Breaks Silence on Martin Show Theme Controversy and Calls Out Travis Scott for Mistreating Fan

Legendary DJ Kid Capri has publicly voiced his frustration over not being compensated for his voice being used in the iconic opening theme of the Martin show. During a recent interview on Bag Fuel, Capri revealed that his voice was sampled from Def Comedy Jam without his knowledge or consent.

“They took my voice from Def Comedy Jam, sampled it, put it on the Martin show… Never got no permission from me, never asked for my rights, nothing,” Capri stated, expressing his displeasure at the situation. Despite the show’s widespread success and cultural impact, Capri was never approached for permission or given proper credit for his work.

Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell Denied Credit

While Kid Capri initially chose not to pursue legal action, his frustration only grew after Martin show stars Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell allegedly claimed the voice used in the opening theme wasn’t his. This denial added insult to injury, with Capri feeling further disrespected by the refusal to acknowledge his contribution.

“If it was a money thing for me, I would’ve been like, ‘Yo, where’s my bread?’ I ain’t never did that,” Capri said, emphasizing that his frustration wasn’t solely about financial gain but also about receiving rightful acknowledgment for his work.

Kid Capri Calls Out Travis Scott for Disrespectful Behavior Toward Fan

Beyond his grievances with the Martin show, Kid Capri also took issue with rapper Travis Scott over an incident involving a young fan last year. According to Capri, the fan—eagerly hoping for a photo—was rudely pushed away by Scott, who bluntly told him, “Don’t touch me.”

Disturbed by the interaction, Capri took to social media to call out the rapper. “Ayo, Travis Scott, when did we start being disrespectful to kids, bruh?” he questioned, highlighting how damaging such moments can be for young fans who idolize celebrities.

Capri’s Reminder of Humility Amidst Fame

Drawing from his own experience in the industry, Kid Capri emphasized the importance of staying humble and remembering where one comes from. Reflecting on Scott’s actions, he remarked, “Celebs get where they get and then they forget. I would try to be as humble as possible.”

Capri also indirectly referenced the tragic 2021 Astroworld incident, where several fans lost their lives during Scott’s concert. He suggested that such experiences should inspire celebrities to treat their fans with more care and respect.

    Travis Scott’s Silence

Travis Scott has not responded to Kid Capri’s comments or issued any public apology for his behavior toward the fan. However, Capri’s statements have sparked conversation among fans about the responsibility celebrities have to treat their admirers with kindness and appreciation.

    Kid Capri’s Influence and Legacy

Kid Capri remains one of the most respected DJs in the entertainment industry, known for his groundbreaking contributions to hip-hop and his electrifying performances. As his voice continues to resonate within pop culture, Capri’s decision to speak out serves as a powerful reminder that recognition and respect matter just as much as financial gain.
