Mariah the Scientist has officially reached a career milestone. Her latest project, Hearts Sold Separately, has claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart for the week of September 6, marking her first time leading the ranking.
Released via Buckles Laboratories/Epic Records, the album has resonated with fans across streaming and sales platforms, cementing Mariah’s rise in contemporary R&B.

According to Luminate, Hearts Sold Separately earned 36,000 equivalent units in its debut week (Aug. 22–28). Streaming drove the bulk of the performance, with 42.3 million on-demand plays across audio and video platforms, translating to 32,000 units. This achievement represents a new personal best for Mariah, who previously peaked at No. 14 on the Top R&B Albums chart with her 2023 release To Be Eaten Alive.
In addition to topping the R&B chart, Hearts Sold Separately opened at No. 3 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 11 on the Billboard 200, showing crossover appeal beyond the genre.
