Mary J. Blige Slams $5M Lawsuit from Misa Hylton & Vado: “Frivolous & Harassing!”

Mary J. Blige is done playing nice — and she’s ready to shut down what she calls a “frivolous” $5 million lawsuit filed by longtime friend and former stylist Misa Hylton, along with Harlem rapper Vado.

In explosive new court docs obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, MJB’s legal team is swinging back hard, calling the lawsuit an intentional smear campaign designed to stir online controversy and pressure the R&B queen into a settlement.

“This lawsuit was filed solely to harass and cause malicious injury,” MJB’s powerhouse attorney Lisa Moore stated in the filing.

The $5M Lawsuit That Blew Up a 30-Year Friendship

The drama ignited back in April, when Misa — a celebrated stylist and fashion icon — hit Mary with a $5 million lawsuit. The basis? A breach of contract claim tied to Vado’s management deal.

Misa claims Mary wrongfully cut ties with her management company after signing Vado, violating a deal and damaging her brand. But Mary’s team says that’s a complete fabrication.

In fact, Mary claims Vado himself suggested parting ways with Misa’s management, and she’s got text messages to prove it.

    MJB’s Legal Receipts Are Ready

    Mary’s legal team insists that:

    • The governing contracts make no mention of Misa’s claims
    • Text messages from Vado show he initiated the split
    • The lawsuit is designed for social media attention, not justice

They argue the entire situation is being used to “apply pressure” and extract a payout from the Good Morning Gorgeous icon.

“The claims are patently frivolous,” her legal docs state, adding that Misa and Vado are using the courts to spark a headline-making scandal.

    Mary’s Ready to Countersue

Not only is Mary demanding the lawsuit be immediately dismissed, she’s also vowing to file counterclaims and seek sanctions against Misa and Vado for wasting the court’s time — and hers.

According to her team, the emotional and reputational harm being caused by the lawsuit is unacceptable, especially since Mary’s name is being dragged through the mud with “knowingly false allegations.”

“This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to stay relevant and stir controversy,” a source close to the singer told us exclusively.

‍♀️ From Fashion Sisters to Legal Enemies

The situation is especially heartbreaking for fans who’ve followed Mary and Misa’s relationship over the years. The two go way back — 30 years — and have shared red carpets, fashion moments, and business deals for decades.

But now? That decades-long friendship has been shattered, and insiders say there’s no going back.

Misa, who helped pioneer 90s hip-hop fashion and styled iconic looks for Mary in her early days, has yet to respond publicly to the latest filings. And Vado — whose name is now caught in the legal crossfire — hasn’t released a statement either.

Fans React: “This Is Giving 90s Drama with 2025 Receipts”

Social media has been buzzing over the escalating feud.

“Mary J. Blige being sued by Misa and Vado? I smell clout-chasing.”

“You’re not gonna get to Mary like this. She’s too seasoned for these games.”

“Not them trying to finesse the Queen out of 5 mil. Ain’t no way.”

Others are waiting for receipts. If those alleged text messages from Vado are real, this case could fall apart fast.

What Mary Wants From the Court

According to the latest filing, Mary is demanding:

    • Immediate dismissal of Misa and Vado’s $5 million lawsuit
    • Return of all relevant communications tied to the case
    • Sanctions and possible legal fees for having to defend against false claims
    • The opportunity to file counterclaims for damages to her career and reputation

No More Drama — But Real Consequences Might Be Coming

Whether or not the case gets tossed, one thing’s clear: Mary J. Blige isn’t backing down. She’s letting the courts — and the public — know that she won’t be manipulated, no matter who comes for her.

And with her legal team already pushing for dismissal since May, she seems confident that truth — and receipts — will win out.

    What Do You Think?

Is Misa and Vado’s lawsuit legitimate, or are they clout-chasing the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul?
