Megan Thee Stallion is making her late parents proud in a big way. On Wednesday, July 16, the Grammy-winning rapper hosted the inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City—raising an impressive $1.2 million to support education, housing, health, and wellness initiatives for underserved communities.
The black-tie affair was hosted by Taraji P. Henson, with an electrifying performance from Muni Long that had guests on their feet.

Speaking to PEOPLE on the red carpet, Megan got emotional when reflecting on the inspiration behind her nonprofit.
“I feel like they can see what I’m doing right now,” she shared.
“I feel like they’re looking down on me from heaven, and they’re like, ‘Yes, daughter.’”
Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, passed away from brain cancer in 2019, and her father, Joseph Pete Jr., died when she was just 15.
“I feel like my momma’s so happy. I feel like she is clapping. I feel like my great-grandma is so happy,” Megan continued. “I feel like my daddy is like, ‘This is exactly what I knew my child was gonna do.’”
