Nelly Made 50 Cent Apologize to Ashanti—On the Spot!

In a wild throwback story that’s now gone viral, Nelly revealed that he once played peacemaker between Ashanti and 50 Cent—and the results were unforgettable.

During a recent episode of the Joe & Jada Podcast, hosted by Fat Joe and Jadakiss, Nelly recalled a now-iconic moment from the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards that had fans revisiting the legendary beef between G-Unit and Murder Inc.

    Ashanti Asked—And Nelly Delivered

According to Nelly, tensions were still high between the camps when Ashanti approached him backstage and asked if he could help her get some closure from the G-Unit boss himself.

“I asked her, ‘You want me to say something to Fif?’ and she said, ‘Yes,’” Nelly shared on the pod.

With that green light, Nelly walked straight over to 50 Cent and relayed the message.

And in true Fif fashion—unfiltered and unbothered—he immediately turned around and shouted across the crowd:

    “Ashanti, I’m sorry!”

50 Cent Confirms the Story—and Drops a Classic 50 Line

The story quickly made the rounds on social media, with fans eating up the unexpected blast from the past.

Even 50 Cent himself got wind of the podcast clip—and rather than deny it, he confirmed the moment was 100% real.

Taking to Instagram, the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper reposted the video and captioned it:

“This is true, no cap detected. I always liked Moe. He took off when I got hit—I was hurt, I couldn’t do nothing but watch the TV.”

The comment instantly had fans in stitches—and fellow rapper DaBaby jumped in the comments with a string of laughing emojis, turning the moment into a full-on nostalgia party in the comments section.

The Beef That Shaped 2000s Hip-Hop

To understand the weight of this moment, you have to remember just how intense the G-Unit vs. Murder Inc. beef really was.

Back in the early 2000s, 50 Cent and Ja Rule were locked in one of the most public and bitter feuds in hip-hop history—a battle that spilled over to their labelmates, including Ashanti, who was signed to Murder Inc.

50’s shots weren’t just lyrical—they were personal, often calling out Ashanti by name in interviews and freestyles. So to see him offer a public apology, even casually, was a huge deal to fans who lived through that era.

Ashanti & Nelly: A Full Circle Moment?

Adding an extra layer of nostalgia? The fact that Ashanti and Nelly are officially back together as a couple—years after their highly publicized on-and-off relationship.

Fans now view the 2007 VMA moment through a whole new lens: Nelly wasn’t just being a stand-up guy—he was standing up for the woman he loved.

“That man said, ‘You want me to talk to him?’ and he did. Husband energy,” one fan tweeted.
“Nelly been solid since Day 1. Protect him at all costs,” said another.

    From Apologies to Anniversary Tours

Fast forward to 2025, and all three artists—Ashanti, Nelly, and 50 Cent—are still making major moves.

    • Ashanti and Nelly are expecting their first child together, and fans are labeling it a “black love comeback story.”
    • 50 Cent is eyeing a big-screen role in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, teasing fans with cryptic Instagram posts.
    • And Nelly? Still glowing in his second chance romance—and now going viral for a moment he barely remembered until now.

????️ Would You Have Apologized Like 50 Did?

Do you think 50 Cent’s apology was sincere—or just classic 50 trolling in public?
Did Nelly do the right thing stepping in?
