Normani is officially in her multi-hyphenate era. The 28-year-old singer and performer had an action-packed weekend that showcased her versatility, star power, and ever-expanding creative reach.

On April 5th, Normani turned heads at Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, stepping behind the bar as Hennessy’s celebrity bartender, where she served up cocktails and major energy. But that was only part of the story—her appearance came just one day after the official theatrical release of her film debut, Freaky Tales.

A Star Is Born on the Big Screen

Set in 1987 Oakland, Freaky Tales stars Normani as Entice, an ambitious member of an up-and-coming girl group striving to rise in a world filled with challenges, glamour, and grit. The role marks a major moment in her career, and according to Normani, it’s one she found personally transformative.

“It’s liberating and very freeing, being able to be creative in a totally different way,” she told PEOPLE during the festival. “I felt like I learned a lot about myself, and I was actually able to celebrate myself and watch myself and not be super critical.”

Normani shares the screen with a powerhouse cast including Pedro Pascal, Jay Ellis, and Dominique Thorne, but she’s most excited to experience the moment with her loved ones.

“When I get home tonight or maybe tomorrow, I’ll take my mom and my dad and my grandma and go to the movie,” she added.

    A Long-Awaited Musical Return

Freaky Tales follows nearly a year after Normani finally released her long-awaited debut album, Dopamine, in June 2024, a project that had fans holding their breath for years. While visuals and live performances have been limited since the album drop, Normani reassured fans that big plans are in motion.

“I got you. We have a lot of special things set up,” she said with a smile. “Always working on new music.”

With fans hungry for more visuals, tour dates, and surprises, her statement was a promising hint that a new era of performances and content may be just around the corner.

From Music to Movies to Mixology

Whether she’s commanding the stage, acting on the big screen, or serving up cocktails at a high-profile music festival, Normani is proving she’s more than just a pop star — she’s an all-around entertainer with limitless potential.

As she enters this exciting new chapter of her career, one thing is clear: Normani is only just getting started, and the world is ready to watch her soar.
