Amaya Espinal’s victory on Love Island USA has even caught the attention of New York City Mayor Eric Adams — and he says the win was no surprise.
We caught up with the 110th mayor of NYC Friday afternoon, and he had nothing but praise for the Bronx native, who recently found love and took home the $100K cash prize alongside fellow contestant Bryan Arenales.
“She’s from the true love island — The Bronx,” Adams joked, adding that her street smarts and NYC grit likely played a role in her reality show success.
Amaya & Bryan Take the Crown
Amaya and Bryan captured hearts on the seventh season of the hit reality show, beating out Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen to secure the top spot and the grand prize. Their win has been celebrated not just by fans of the show but also by New Yorkers proud to see one of their own shine on national television.

NYC: The Real City of Love?
Mayor Adams didn’t just talk reality TV — he also touched on his plans to clean up New York’s streets, reminding viewers that the city is about more than just fame and glamour. But when it comes to love, Adams seems confident:
“If you’re from the Bronx, you already know what love is.”
Move over Paris — the City of Love might just be New York City, at least according to NYC’s top mayor
