Reggaeton Star Jhayco Arrested in Florida on Drug Charges

Latin music star Jhayco — celebrated for his collaborations with Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Kali Uchis — is facing serious legal trouble after being arrested in Florida on drug possession charges.

TMZ confirmed the arrest, citing police reports that allege officers discovered both cocaine and marijuana in his possession during a late-night traffic stop.

    Why Police Pulled Him Over

According to the arrest report, officers noticed Jhayco’s car traveling just 5 MPH before coming to a complete stop in the middle of the road for over a minute. Concerned about the erratic driving, they initiated a traffic stop.

When officers approached, they claimed they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and noticed white powder on Jhayco’s pants — and even on his nose.

    The Search and Seizure

Police say that when asked for his license, Jhayco fumbled through his wallet and phone before a records check revealed no license on file.

A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up:

    • Two black pouches containing approximately 14 grams of suspected cannabis
    • Multiple baggies of a white substance in Jhayco’s possession, totaling around 2 grams

Authorities initially identified the white powder as cocaine. Jhayco reportedly told officers it wasn’t cocaine but “2C,” a synthetic psychedelic drug.

    The Charges

    Jhayco was booked on:

    • Possession of cocaine
    • Possession of 20 grams or less of cannabis

His bond was set at just under $3,000, which has since been posted.

A Rising Star Facing a Major Setback

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican artist — born Jesús Manuel Nieves Cortez — has been riding a wave of success in the Latin music world. Known for genre-blending reggaeton hits, he’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including:

    • Bad Bunny (“No Me Conoce Remix”)
    • J Balvin (“Medusa”)
    • Kali Uchis (“La Luz”)

He’s also built a loyal global fanbase thanks to his smooth voice, infectious beats, and stylish aesthetic.

    Legal Trouble in the Spotlight

Jhayco’s arrest instantly made headlines across Latin America and U.S. entertainment outlets, with fans flooding social media in shock. Many are expressing hope the situation is a misunderstanding, while others fear it could derail his momentum in the music industry.

Drug charges, particularly in Florida, can carry heavy legal and career consequences — from probation and fines to potential jail time. While possession of small amounts of marijuana is often treated as a misdemeanor, cocaine possession is considered a felony under state law.

    What’s Next for Jhayco

The singer has not yet made a public statement. His legal team is expected to respond in the coming days, and fans will be watching closely to see how this plays out in court.

For now, Jhayco remains free after posting bond — but the arrest marks a serious chapter in the life of one of reggaeton’s most promising young stars.
