Rick Ross learned quickly that his celebrity status carries little weight in Judge Mindy Glazer’s courtroom.
The rapper, whose legal name is William Roberts II, appeared before Glazer Thursday following his arrest on battery charges in Miami. During the hearing, his attorney Bradley Horenstein asked whether Ross’ release could be “expedited,” citing his celebrity status and concerns about his safety while in jail.
The request did not appear to impress the judge.
Glazer told Ross, “I have no idea who you are,” before making it clear that he would be treated the same way as everyone else appearing before her.
“I’ll treat you fairly, just like everybody else here,” the judge said.
The courtroom moment came hours after Ross turned himself in to authorities following allegations made by an ex-girlfriend over an alleged August 28 incident.

According to law enforcement sources cited in the supplied report, the woman told police that Ross slapped and struck her, allegedly choked her until she could not breathe, grabbed her by the ponytail and slammed her against a wall.
The woman reported the allegations to police Tuesday, and Ross surrendered Thursday morning.
Ross was arrested on charges of felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
His attorneys have also rejected the allegations, telling TMZ that Ross is innocent and is being wrongfully accused.
For Ross, the hearing delivered a pointed reminder that being one of hip-hop’s biggest stars does not guarantee special treatment once the courtroom doors close. In Judge Glazer’s courtroom, at least, the rapper was treated like any other defendant.
