Serayah has ended her engagement to Joey Bada$$, more than a year after the couple welcomed their son, and she says repeated alleged infidelity ultimately led her to walk away from the relationship.
The 31-year-old actress announced the breakup Monday in an Instagram statement, explaining that she reached a point where choosing herself became necessary.
“There comes a point in a woman’s life when choosing herself is no longer an option, it becomes necessary,” Serayah wrote. “After much thought, I have made the difficult decision to end my engagement and relationship with the father of my child, Joey.”
Serayah said she once believed deeply in the future she and the rapper were building together. Protecting their family, she explained, was something she wanted above all else.
“I believed wholeheartedly in the life we were building,” she wrote. “I wanted nothing more than to protect our family.”
But according to Serayah, the relationship eventually reached a painful breaking point.
The actress alleged that Joey had repeatedly been unfaithful during their relationship, including during periods she described as some of the most vulnerable moments of her life. She did not provide further details about the alleged incidents.
Serayah made clear that her decision was not about seeking sympathy or retaliation. Instead, she used the announcement to encourage women to trust themselves when something in a relationship no longer feels right.
“If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, listen to it,” she wrote.
She also urged women not to abandon their values simply to preserve a relationship, stressing that another person’s choices should not determine their sense of worth.
Despite the breakup, Serayah emphasized that she intends to keep the couple’s private matters private moving forward. Their son remains her central priority as the two navigate parenthood separately.
“I will always respect the fact that we share a beautiful son,” Serayah wrote. “My priority will be protecting his peace, privacy and relationship with both of his parents.”
Serayah and Joey Bada$$ began dating in 2023. They welcomed their son in June 2025 and announced their engagement the following month.
Now, the actress is turning the page on their romantic relationship while making it clear that their shared role as parents remains.
“This chapter did not end the way I prayed it would,” Serayah wrote. “But endings can also be beginnings.”
