Two men have been criminally charged in connection with the tragic deaths of three individuals during a Kansas City Chiefs watch party earlier this year.
Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson now face three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, according to Platte County, Missouri officials. The charges stem from the January 2024 deaths of Clayton McGeeney, David Harrington, and Ricky Johnson—who were found frozen in Willis’ backyard two days after the gathering.
The Investigation and Charges
Authorities say the victims had attended a watch party at Willis’ residence to see the Chiefs take on the Chargers. However, the celebration took a deadly turn when the men allegedly consumed a lethal mix of cocaine and fentanyl—which prosecutors claim was supplied by Willis and Carson.
The case gained national attention due to the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths. However, on Wednesday, Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd confirmed that drug toxicity was the cause.
Legal Consequences
Carson has already been booked into county jail, while Willis is expected to surrender soon. If convicted, both face significant prison time due to the felony charges.
Prosecutor’s Warning on Street Drugs
Zahnd emphasized the dangers of illicit substances, stating:
“This case is a tragic reminder of the dangers of street drugs. But make no mistake, the people who supply those drugs can and will be held accountable when people overdose.”
With the investigation still unfolding, officials remain committed to seeking justice for the victims and their families.
