Wendy Williams will continue under a court-appointed guardianship, according to new legal filings obtained by PEOPLE. The decision follows an extensive medical evaluation assessing the former talk show host’s neurological and cognitive health.

Sources say Wendy has been living with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia since 2023, though the court documents do not specify the exact findings of the recent assessment.

Court Seeks Extension Amid Family Challenges

Attorney Lisa Brown, representing Wendy’s guardian Sabrina Morrissey, requested that the guardianship be extended until November 5, 2025. The filing also references potential disputes from Wendy’s family members, ex-husband, and others who may challenge both the guardianship arrangement and Morrissey’s authority.

This legal maneuver ensures that Wendy continues to receive oversight and care while the court addresses ongoing disputes.

Public Incident Highlights Wendy’s Health Struggles

The update comes months after a widely publicized incident on March 10, 2025, when New York police removed Wendy from her assisted living facility and took her to the hospital. The following day, she spoke on Good Day New York via phone about her health and mental competency tests, confidently telling viewers,

    “I passed with flying colors!”

She also asked her caretaker, Ginalia Monterrosa, to provide more details.

Monterrosa explained to anchor Rosanna Scotto,

“She had those tests, she’s been deemed she is not incapacitated. I think it’s great news, and it’s public, and everybody knows factually that Wendy’s not incapacitated.”

Wendy confirmed her approval of the independent assessment, saying,

“Absolutely. That is what I want, and that is what I got.”

Guardianship to Continue While Legal Battles Unfold

For now, Wendy Williams’ guardianship remains in place as the court navigates the ongoing legal challenges. A review of the situation is expected in early November 2025, when the court will revisit the terms and consider any updates regarding her care and autonomy.

The extension highlights the ongoing balance between Wendy’s personal wishes and the court’s responsibility to ensure her well-being amidst a complex web of family and legal disputes.

    What’s Next for Wendy Williams?

Fans and observers will be watching closely as November approaches. Questions remain about whether Wendy’s guardianship will be modified or continued, and how her family dynamics will play out in court.

Stay tuned to The Pop Radar for exclusive updates on Wendy Williams’ guardianship and legal proceedings.
