Wendy Williams’ Lawyer Slams Leaked Dementia Report as False

Wendy Williams’ legal team is firing back after reports surfaced claiming the former talk show host tested positive for frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

Her lawyer, Joe Tacopina, tells TMZ the alleged leak is completely false and part of a broader effort to keep Wendy under an overly restrictive guardianship.

“This leak is false and being spread by a party with a vested interest in keeping Wendy trapped under this excessive and restrictive guardianship,” Tacopina said.

He added that the leak is a serious violation of Wendy’s rights as a human being, raising questions about the integrity of those spreading the information.

    Tacopina Demands Proof

Tacopina didn’t hold back in questioning the validity of the claims.

“The critical questions are these: Where is the actual medical report supporting this leak? And who is the doctor willing to go under oath and face cross-examination by me so the truth can be exposed?”

So far, Wendy and her team have not seen the report that sources cited to People magazine. The alleged tests were said to confirm the same diagnoses Wendy first received in 2023.

Guardian Files Documents and Delays Litigation

Court-appointed guardian Sabrina E. Morrissey previously filed documents revealing Wendy would undergo a series of medical and neuropsychological tests. She also requested the court to pause any litigation related to Wendy’s lawsuit with A&E over the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? until the guardianship court makes a ruling.

The filings come amid Wendy’s ongoing efforts to regain independence from her guardianship, a legal arrangement she has long argued is unnecessary and overly restrictive.

Wendy Proved Competent in Previous Tests

Sources told TMZ earlier this year that Wendy was briefly removed from her assisted care facility to take a series of capacity tests — and she passed with flying colors. This reinforces her claim that she is fully capable of managing her own affairs despite the continued legal scrutiny.

    The Battle Over Guardianship Continues

The leaking of medical information adds fuel to a high-profile legal battle over Wendy’s autonomy. Tacopina’s statement makes it clear that the legal team is prepared to hold accountable anyone trying to manipulate or distort her health status for personal gain.

“We will expose the truth, and anyone responsible for spreading false claims will be held accountable,” he added.

At this point, it remains unclear how the leaked reports might affect ongoing court proceedings or Wendy’s push to end the guardianship. Sources say both Wendy and Tacopina are awaiting official medical records to determine the next legal steps.

    What’s Next for Wendy Williams?

With litigation on pause and her legal team challenging the leak, fans are watching closely to see how Wendy’s fight for independence unfolds. The former talk show queen remains determined to regain control over her life and career, despite the controversies and legal roadblocks.
