Sexyy Red Reveals WWE Wrestling Offer and Why She Turned It Down

Sexyy Red nearly swapped the mic for the ring! The rising rap sensation recently revealed in an exclusive interview with Dazed that she was offered a permanent role as a WWE wrestler. However, her packed schedule made it impossible for her to dedicate the necessary time to training, leading her to opt for a special cameo appearance instead.

From Rap to Wrestling: Sexyy Red’s WWE Opportunity

While discussing the surprising opportunity, Sexyy Red expressed her belief that the worlds of hip-hop and wrestling share striking similarities.

“Rapping and wrestling are pretty much the same,” she explained. “It’s not quite acting, but it’s kind of acting too, right? Because when we go home and take off all our jewels and gold and remove the costumes we wear, we then have to go right back to reality with our families.”

Sexyy Red made her WWE debut in May as the official host of NXT, where she unveiled the brand-new NXT North American Women’s Championship belt. She also had a memorable moment performing “Sexy Boy” alongside wrestling legend Shawn Michaels. Later, she returned for NXT Battleground in Nevada, further cementing her presence in the wrestling world.

Sexyy Red on Her Presidential Vision and True Religion Obsession

Beyond wrestling, Sexyy Red also opened up about her unique perspective on social issues. She shared her thoughts on tackling hunger and homelessness in a bold statement that showcased her deep-rooted compassion for struggling communities.

“I would give all the hungry poor people free food,” she declared. “So they don’t have to steal it no more, because it’s too expensive right now. Food should be free! No one should ever be homeless.”

Her words resonated with fans, especially as she emphasized her connection to everyday people. “The people at the bottom are my favorite kind of people, period. I like people that wear True Religion jeans, even though they’re [seen as being] too ghetto.” Sexyy Red proudly revealed that she owns an astonishing 600 pairs of True Religion jeans, reinforcing her commitment to representing her roots and staying true to her authentic style.

The Challenges of Fame: Sexyy Red Speaks Out

Despite her skyrocketing career, Sexyy Red admitted that fame comes with its own set of challenges. She candidly shared her struggles with maintaining a sense of normalcy while navigating the public eye.

“Trying to live a normal life is difficult when you’re famous,” she confessed. “Sometimes y’all be so annoying. If you see me with my babies bagging up groceries, then get the f—k away from me. No photos!”

The rapper’s frustration highlights the constant pressure celebrities face from fans and paparazzi alike, making even the simplest everyday tasks feel overwhelming.

Sexyy Red on Racial Profiling and Encounters with Police

In addition to her personal struggles with fame, Sexyy Red opened up about the stark realities of racial profiling and her experiences with law enforcement in her hometown of St. Louis.

She referenced a recent tragedy in her community, expressing her anger over systemic injustice. “The police in St. Louis just shot another Black kid dead the other day. That sh—t’s so wrong,” she said.

Sexyy Red explained that whenever she returns home, she faces unpredictable encounters with local authorities. “When I go back home, there are usually two outcomes [when I am stopped in traffic]: they either like your music and want to tell you about their kids being fans, or they choose to mess with you even more [now you’re this celebrity]!”

She described instances where officers would harass her simply because of her status. “Sometimes they pick on me or just f—k with me for fun. They like to remind you of where you are. It’s all about reinforcing their position [of power].”

Sexyy Red: A Voice for the People

Sexyy Red’s candid interview sheds light on the multiple facets of her personality—her ambitious career moves, her deep empathy for struggling communities, and the challenges that come with her growing fame. From nearly becoming a WWE star to advocating for social change, she continues to captivate audiences with her raw honesty and fearless attitude.

As she carves her own path in the entertainment industry, one thing remains clear: Sexyy Red is not just an artist—she’s a cultural force, unafraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she believes in.
