During his appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, the rapper and former Pimp My Ride host discussed the impact of Lamar’s diss track, Not Like Us. Maher pointed out that calling Drake a “pedophile” was a serious accusation, but Xzibit defended the nature of rap battles, emphasizing that there are no boundaries in lyrical warfare.
“I have no idea about what he’s doing with his boy, you know, that don’t sound right,” Xzibit said, referencing Drake’s Certified Lover Boy persona. “I just know that’s where that comes from, that clip. And then he was talking to the Millie Bobby Brown girl about relationship sh*t.”
Xzibit Compares Kendrick vs. Drake to David vs. Goliath
Xzibit went on to frame the rap battle as a David vs. Goliath scenario, arguing that Lamar represents the underdog against the commercially dominant Drake.
“What you’re seeing and why people are celebrating it so much is that this big, huge machine and this so-called rapper from Compton… Yes, he has success, but he’s not as big as Drake,” Xzibit said.
When Maher attempted to steer the conversation back to the accusations against Drake, Xzibit reiterated that in rap battles, anything goes.
“No. Are you kidding?” Xzibit exclaimed. “This is a rap battle! This is not a testimony or deposition. This is a f**king rap battle. I’m going to talk about your mama, your daddy, your children, your grandma’s wooden leg, your missing teeth. It’s all a game, right?”
He further explained, “If there was something weird going on, then there would definitely be people that would come forward and testify, and then people would be charged for that. But when you’re playing the dozens, and I give you one that hurts your feelings, don’t be the guy who wants to fight because I got a good joke.”
Not Like Us’s Global Impact
Lamar’s Not Like Us became a worldwide smash hit, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024. The scathing diss track also dominated the Hot Rap Songs chart for 20 weeks and found success in international markets, topping charts in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia.
As the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake continues to spark debate, Xzibit has made it clear that he stands firmly behind K.Dot.
