Rick Ross Wants LeBron James Back in Miami—But Says It’s Bigger Than Basketball
Rick Ross has a message for LeBron James, and it has less to do with championships than with building an even bigger business empire.
Speaking with TMZ Sports in New York City, the Miami rap heavyweight and longtime Miami Heat supporter made the case for why he believes James should return to South Beach if he decides to make another move in his NBA career.
Ross’ pitch wasn’t centered on points, playoff runs, or championship banners. Instead, he argued that Miami offers something he believes is even more valuable for the four-time NBA champion: business opportunities.
“I’m Talking From a Boss’s Perspective”
Ross framed his comments as advice from one entrepreneur to another.
“I’m talking from a boss’s perspective,” he told TMZ Sports. “The boss move is for LeBron to come to Miami where the most billionaires are at.”
According to Ross, James has grown far beyond being simply an NBA superstar. He said LeBron now oversees numerous business ventures that could benefit from stronger connections in South Florida’s business community.
Ross argued that James should focus on expanding the broader portfolio of companies and brands he has built throughout his career.
“You got to feed the other 30 businesses that Bron has created,” Ross said.

No Knock on Cleveland
Ross made it clear that his comments were not intended as criticism of Cleveland.
He said he had recently visited the city and enjoyed his time there, even mentioning that he had hosted a successful pool party during the trip.
Still, Ross maintained that Miami offers a different level of opportunity.
“Cleveland… Amazing city,” he said before adding, “But it ain’t nothing like Miami.”
For Ross, the comparison comes down to economics rather than basketball.
Business Over Basketball
Ross said he believes fans are too focused on what James can still do on the court.
Instead, he wants to see the NBA icon continue expanding his influence off it.
“This is about business,” Ross explained.
He said he envisions James investing in major projects, growing his brand, and partnering with influential business leaders in Miami rather than simply adding another chapter to his Hall of Fame basketball résumé.
Ross even imagined LeBron’s logos appearing on prominent buildings throughout downtown Miami as part of his expanding business empire.

Ross Says Miami Offers Bigger Opportunities
Ross’ central argument was straightforward.
He believes Miami’s concentration of wealthy investors and entrepreneurs makes it an ideal place for someone with LeBron’s business ambitions.
“I’m sure there’s more billionaires in Miami than it is in Cleveland,” Ross said.
According to Ross, those relationships could translate into new investments, partnerships, and long-term financial growth for the NBA superstar.
His comments reflected his personal opinion and were not based on any indication that James is planning a return to the Heat.

LeBron’s Future Remains a Major NBA Story
Ross’ remarks arrive as speculation continues about James’ NBA future.
The veteran superstar remains one of basketball’s biggest names, and every comment about his next move tends to generate widespread discussion among fans and analysts.
Ross added another voice to that conversation, though his focus differed from the usual debates about championships or roster construction.
Instead, he emphasized what he sees as the long-term value of choosing a city that aligns with James’ business interests.

Could Miami Be in the Conversation?
Ross’ comments are ultimately just that—his opinion on where LeBron James should play next.
There has been no indication from James that he plans to return to Miami, and Ross did not suggest he had any inside knowledge of the NBA star’s plans.
Still, with LeBron’s future continuing to dominate headlines, Ross’ business-first pitch adds an interesting perspective to one of basketball’s biggest ongoing conversations.
