Nicolas Cage is temporarily without a home after a massive sinkhole forced him out of his multimillion-dollar Malibu property, with the Hollywood actor describing his situation as being “a little bit homeless.”
Cage made the remark while speaking to fans at L.A. Comic-Con over the weekend, explaining that he cannot return to his Malibu residence because the property is currently uninhabitable.
The problem reportedly involves a large sinkhole that has raised concerns about the stability of the home’s foundation.
Photographs of the affected area show the hole extending from near the property’s driveway towards the street, highlighting the scale of the damage threatening the residence.

The situation has also affected the surrounding neighbourhood. Residents were previously evacuated, while Malibu officials declared the sinkhole an emergency.
Despite the disruption, Cage says he has found alternative accommodation in a series of hotels while waiting for the situation at his property to improve.
The actor also shared that being temporarily displaced has not stopped him from making family plans. He said he still intended to take his daughter trick-or-treating on Halloween before spending time watching the horror classic The Shining at his residence.
However, with the Malibu property still considered uninhabitable, returning home remains uncertain.
Cage’s description of himself as “a little bit homeless” drew attention because of his celebrity status and the multimillion-dollar property involved. His comments were made in reference to being unable to live in his own house, rather than experiencing homelessness in the conventional sense.
For now, the Oscar-winning actor is relying on hotel accommodation as the sinkhole situation continues to affect his Malibu home.
