A newly obtained video from the day Nolan Wells disappeared may provide investigators with another piece of the timeline surrounding the 18-year-old’s final hours on Horn Island, Mississippi.
The footage, recorded during the July 4 gathering where Nolan was last seen, has been shared with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office after the person who recorded it believed it could potentially show Nolan.
The video does not confirm the identity of the person shown, but investigators are aware of the footage and are reviewing information connected to the case.
According to reports, the clip shows a crowded Horn Island gathering with multiple boats and people spending time in the water.
At one point, the camera captures a Black man standing on the back deck of a boat, appearing to bend down to pick up a drink.
The individual is wearing swimming trunks that reportedly appear similar in color to the ones Nolan wore in a widely circulated July 4 photo with friends.
However, the person’s face is not visible in the footage, meaning the identity of the individual has not been confirmed.
The person who recorded the video reportedly believed strongly enough that it could show Nolan that they decided to take it to authorities.

According to reports, the footage was provided to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office last week, with a copy left for a detective involved in the investigation.
A law enforcement source confirmed investigators are aware of the video.
If the person in the footage is confirmed to be Nolan, it could represent the last known image of him before he disappeared.
The metadata reportedly shows the video was recorded at 2:23 p.m. on July 4.
Video Adds New Detail to Nolan Wells Timeline
The footage could become significant because of the timeline surrounding Nolan’s disappearance.
According to publicly available accounts, the boat Nolan’s friends were traveling on left Horn Island later that afternoon.
GPS information reportedly placed the boat’s departure around 4:30 p.m., after which the group returned to the Mississippi mainland without Nolan.
Nolan was later reported missing, and his body was discovered on July 6 along the Horn Island shoreline.
No publicly identified witnesses have reported seeing Nolan after approximately 4:30 p.m. on July 4.
The new video does not establish what happened after it was recorded, but it could help investigators better understand where Nolan was and who may have been around him earlier that afternoon.
Family Continues Independent Investigation
Nolan’s family continues to seek answers surrounding his death.
His parents have launched an independent investigation with assistance from attorney Ben Crump, including arranging an independent autopsy.
The family has questioned aspects of the timeline and has continued requesting more information about Nolan’s final moments.
Authorities have previously said they believe Nolan drowned and that investigators have not found evidence of foul play, while emphasizing that the investigation remains ongoing.
Reward Announced for Information
The new footage comes after Nolan’s funeral service, where Rev. Al Sharpton announced a reward for information related to the case.
Sharpton said he would offer $50,000, with Tyler Perry also contributing $50,000, for information leading to a conviction connected to Nolan’s death.
The announcement came during Nolan’s service at Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where family and supporters gathered to remember the teenager.
For Nolan’s loved ones, the search for answers continues.

Why It Matters
In missing person and death investigations, timeline details can play a critical role in helping authorities understand a person’s final movements.
The newly shared footage does not provide a conclusion about what happened to Nolan, but it adds another potential piece of evidence for investigators reviewing the case.
As authorities examine the video, Nolan’s family continues waiting for clarity about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Human Angle
For Nolan’s parents, every new detail represents another opportunity to understand what happened to their son.
The 18-year-old was remembered by family, friends, and his football community as someone whose life ended far too soon.
Now, as investigators review additional information, those closest to Nolan continue hoping the unanswered questions surrounding his final hours will eventually be resolved.
