Nicki Minaj is explaining why her political views have shifted, and she has a message for the Democratic Party.
During an interview with Lara Trump on Fox News’ My View with Lara Trump, the rapper criticized Democrats for what she sees as an excessive focus on pop culture and relationships with entertainers.
“I think the Democrats have gotten way too caught up in pop culture, for lack of a better term,” Minaj said.
She continued by arguing that the party’s relationships with artists have influenced how some Democrats behave.
“I think that they’ve allowed their relationships with artists to cause them to act like children and to be so petty and childish,” she said.
Minaj’s comments come as she has become increasingly public about her support for President Donald Trump and Republican politics. Her remarks were part of a broader discussion with Lara Trump about what influenced her changing political outlook.
The rapper has also recently moved beyond discussing her political preferences and directly encouraged young Americans to participate in the 2026 midterm elections.
During the same Fox News interview, Minaj urged young voters to get involved in elections and told them to “vote red now,” referring to Republican candidates. She also said young voters should participate in local elections rather than limiting their political involvement to presidential races.
Minaj has separately spoken positively about Trump, describing him during the interview as “a very authentic person.” She has also participated as a celebrity judge in a Trump administration small-business competition.
Her latest comments add another chapter to an increasingly public political identity that has seen the rapper appear on conservative media platforms and openly discuss her support for Trump.
For Minaj, the issue is not simply party politics. She is specifically criticizing what she sees as the Democratic Party’s relationship with the entertainment industry — a position she has now made part of her broader explanation for moving away from the party.
