A$AP Rocky is facing fresh legal drama — and this time, it’s not in a courtroom over music or fashion. The Grammy-nominated rapper and style icon has been hit with a $1.1 million lawsuit after a massive flood left his luxury Manhattan condo and a neighboring unit “completely uninhabitable.”
The lawsuit, filed by Chez Ni LLC in Manhattan Supreme Court, accuses Rocky (real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers) and a local contracting company, ADE Pro Painting, of negligence during maintenance work that spiraled into a disaster.
The property in question — a $11 million residence at 70 Vestry Street, one of New York’s most exclusive addresses — reportedly sustained catastrophic water damage after hot-water pipes burst inside and around Rocky’s Unit 5N last December.
How the Flood Started
According to court filings, the chaos began when ADE Pro Painting workers opened windows for ventilation while performing maintenance inside the apartment. The problem? They allegedly left the windows open overnight — despite freezing winter temperatures.
That seemingly small oversight, combined with mechanical issues in the heating system, set off a chain reaction. Investigators say radiator supply valves had been left closed, and no return valves were installed. This trapped water inside the pipes, where it froze solid, causing several radiators to crack.
When temperatures rose, the ice melted and unleashed a torrent of water, flooding Rocky’s unit and several apartments below.
“The neighboring apartment was left completely uninhabitable,” the lawsuit states, adding that repairs remain ongoing nearly a year later.
Damage Still Not Repaired
The flooding reportedly caused extensive structural and property damage throughout the building, with Chez Ni LLC — the owner of one of the affected units — claiming it has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in emergency restoration and continues to suffer losses.
The suit seeks $1.1 million in damages, alleging both Rocky and his contractors failed to take reasonable care during maintenance and ignored safety protocols that could have prevented the flooding.
Neither A$AP Rocky nor ADE Pro Painting has commented publicly on the claims.
Another Legal Chapter for the Rap Star
For A$AP Rocky, this isn’t the first time he’s found himself tangled in legal issues. The Harlem native, who’s also known for his high-profile relationship with Rihanna and their two children, is still navigating an ongoing criminal case in Los Angeles involving an alleged shooting incident with a former associate.
Despite these setbacks, Rocky remains one of the most influential figures in fashion and hip-hop, recently expanding his creative ventures with PUMA and Bottega Veneta collaborations. His aesthetic and business moves continue to shape modern rap culture — even as legal trouble keeps making headlines.
What’s Next
As the condo lawsuit moves forward, insiders say it could take months before any settlement or judgment is reached. In the meantime, Rocky is expected to continue balancing court dates with career moves, all while preparing for his next album rollout — one fans have been eagerly awaiting.
But for now, the rapper’s biggest problem might not be in the studio — it’s in the courtroom.
