Coi Leray Joins Epic Records for New Chapter, Preps Emotional EP ‘What Happened to Forever’

Coi Leray is kicking off a new chapter in her career with a fresh deal and a highly anticipated project. After four successful years under Universal Music Group, the rapper and singer has officially signed with Epic Records, marking an exciting new era for her musical journey.

In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Leray shared her enthusiasm for the move, highlighting how much she values the support from her new label. “Epic is one of those labels who understands me as an artist and as a person, and I’m super appreciative of that,” Leray expressed. “They support me rather than try to tell me what to do, and that’s all an artist can ask for when it comes to signing with a major label.”

Coi Leray’s Breakthrough and Grammy Nominations

Before her transition to Epic, Leray made waves in the music industry with her hits released under Universal Music Group, through both Republic Records and Island Records. Her 2023 smash single Players earned her platinum certification and a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. Additionally, her collaboration with David Guetta and Anne-Marie on Baby Don’t Hurt snagged a nomination for Best Pop Dance Recording in the 2024 Grammy Awards.

What to Expect from Her New EP

Now, Leray is preparing to drop her highly anticipated EP What Happened to Forever, a deeply personal five-track project set to release at midnight on February 12. The EP is inspired by real-life experiences, showcasing a more intimate side of the artist. Featuring production from industry talents like Tommy Brown, CashMoney AP, ItsnotHarold, and Johnny Goldstein, What Happened to Forever promises to be an emotional journey.

Reflecting on the EP’s emotional depth, Leray shared, “I’m still healing right? So it’s something I don’t want to speak about, but I guess I can say I let the music speak for me. [The] best way I can vent is through the music.”

Epic Records and the Future Ahead

Epic Records, home to chart-topping artists such as Travis Scott and Tyla, is fully backing Leray’s artistic vision. As she embarks on this next phase of her career, Leray continues to prove that, just like she raps, “girls is players too,” solidifying her place in the ever-evolving music scene.

With the release of What Happened to Forever just around the corner, fans can expect an emotionally charged and powerful project that demonstrates Coi Leray’s growth as both an artist and an individual.
