Kanye West and Big Sean appear to have put years of bad blood behind them after reuniting onstage in Chicago.
Ye took the stage at Soldier Field on Thursday night, where he surprised the crowd by bringing out his former Detroit-based protégé for a joint performance.
“Had to bring my homie from the D out,” Ye told the packed crowd before Sean was lifted onto the massive globe-shaped stage.
The two rappers then went straight into their 2012 collaboration “Clique,” giving fans a live reunion that would have seemed unlikely during the height of their feud.
Sean followed with his solo hit “I Don’t F* With You,”** before Ye, Sean and another special guest, 2 Chainz, joined forces for “Mercy.”
The reunion carries extra weight because the pair have had a very public falling-out.
In 2021, Ye criticized Sean during an appearance on the “Drink Champs” podcast, calling signing Sean to his G.O.O.D. Music label the worst thing he had ever done. Ye also joked that his tombstone should say he deserved to be there because he signed Big Sean.
The tension reportedly stemmed from Sean and John Legend not supporting Ye’s unsuccessful 2020 presidential campaign. Ye criticized the artists as sellouts over their stance.
Sean subsequently fired back at Ye, dismissing the comments as “bitch ass s***.” He later departed G.O.O.D. Music after 14 years with the label.
Now, the two rappers have shared a stage again—and the reunion happened in Ye’s own Chicago backyard.
Whatever happened between them over the years, Thursday night’s performance suggests the relationship has reached a very different place. For fans who remember the fallout, seeing Ye and Sean trading verses instead of insults was the headline moment.
