Lil Wayne and Drake have apparently been sitting on a serious amount of unreleased music — and Wayne says some of it dates back more than a decade.
The Young Money founder recently revealed that he and Drake have a deep archive of songs recorded over the years, including material from 2014 and 2015 that has never been released.
During an appearance on The Joint Venture Show, Wayne explained that he regularly goes through the pair’s old files, revisiting tracks to see whether they can still work with today’s sound.
“We have a whole bunch of unreleased material,” Wayne said.

“I go through stuff every other day, just going down the drive and going through the files. We have music from 2014 and 2015. Like, really unheard stuff.”
And the vault isn’t simply collecting digital dust.
Wayne said he sometimes takes older recordings and updates them before sending the refreshed versions to Drake’s phone. The goal is to see whether the Toronto superstar hears something worth finishing.
According to Wayne, Drake remains receptive to the material and will sometimes ask when particular songs are finally going to come out.
That creative back-and-forth has kept speculation alive about whether the two could eventually turn their enormous archive into a full collaborative project.
For more than a decade, fans have wondered about a Lil Wayne-Drake joint album. The pair have continued to collaborate over the years, but a full-length project has never materialized.

Their most recent major appearances together came in 2021, when they collaborated on “You Only Live Twice” from Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and Nicki Minaj’s “Seeing Green.”
Wayne has also suggested that their competitive relationship plays a role in how they approach their music. The two continue to exchange verses and make changes when one believes the other has delivered the stronger performance on a particular song.
That dynamic could explain why some of their older material keeps getting revisited rather than simply released as-is.
For now, there is no confirmation that the vault will become a joint album. The music could eventually emerge as individual singles, collaborations or something much bigger.
But one thing is clear from Wayne’s account: the Lil Wayne-Drake archive is much deeper than fans have heard. And apparently, Wayne still has the files open.
