Renowned Masaka businessman Emmanuel Lwasa has revealed his intention to convert to Islam, stating that he is actively considering taking the Shahada, the formal Islamic declaration of faith.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Spark TV, Lwasa expressed his growing admiration for Islam, saying he believes more people should embrace the religion.
“I want to make Shahada, and I am almost a Muslim. I will make the decision very soon because it’s a good religion, and I believe in its faith.”
Jajja Kassim Nakibige: A Key Influence in Lwasa’s Faith Journey
Lwasa credited his deepening interest in Islam to Jajja Kassim Nakibige, whom he regards as a guiding influence in his spiritual journey. The businessman expressed his desire to officially convert in Nakibige’s presence, acknowledging the role he played in bringing him closer to the faith.
“I request the head of Muslims, Jajja Kassim Nakibige, to help me and convert me to Islam. He is the man who brought Islam close to me, and I want to convert in front of him.”
Lwasa Gives Up Alcohol in Preparation for Conversion
As part of his preparation for embracing Islam, Lwasa revealed that he has already given up alcohol and other practices discouraged in the faith.
“I gave up alcohol a long time ago, and I have gone months without it. I am growing into a different person.”
