Lines are being drawn in the Pinfield family as tensions rise over a potential conservatorship for former MTV host Matt Pinfield.
Allegations of Isolation & Control
According to new legal documents obtained by TMZ, Matt’s girlfriend, Kara Brown, and his brother, Glenn, claim that Matt’s daughter, Jessica, is isolating him from the rest of the family and attempting to cut them out of his life.
As previously reported, Matt is currently hospitalized following a serious medical emergency. Jessica has filed for a conservatorship, arguing that Matt is incapable of making decisions regarding his health and finances. Additionally, she has expressed concerns that Kara might deplete his bank account if given access to his finances.
Kara Brown Fires Back
In the newly filed court documents, attorney Todd Wolfe represents Kara, who firmly denies having any access to Matt’s bank accounts. She claims that Jessica is creating division between her and Matt, painting her as an outsider.
Kara alleges that she brought Matt to the hospital after he suffered a severe fall, staying by his side until Jessica arrived. She asserts that Jessica wrongfully accused her of drug use and blamed her for Matt’s stroke, attempting to damage her credibility with hospital staff.
Kara also states that during her next hospital visit, she was informed that her visitation rights had been revoked and that she was escorted out of the hospital. Since then, she has been completely cut off from Matt’s medical updates.
Matt’s Brother Joins the Fight
Backing Kara’s claims, Matt’s brother, Glenn, says that Jessica blindsided the entire family, including Matt’s mother and sister, when she filed for conservatorship. He asserts that Jessica has taken control of Matt’s medical information, effectively keeping the rest of his loved ones in the dark.
Glenn also defends Kara, expressing concern over Jessica’s behavior and alleging that her actions raise red flags regarding Matt’s best interests.
Conservatorship Battle Continues
Currently, Jessica has been granted temporary conservatorship, but Kara and Glenn are strongly opposing it. They are urging the court to reconsider before allowing the conservatorship to move forward.
