Max B and Young Thug have recently reconnected, with the Coke Wave rapper outlining his vision for life after prison.
Max B’s Imminent Release and Future Plans
Charley Wingate, better known as Max B, is set to be released on November 9. In a brief exchange captured on a prison call, he spoke with Young Thug about his determination and aspirations:
“Man, I’m in here grinding this shit out… Hell yeah, we ’bout to hit the home stretch, baby.”
He also hinted at a potential collaboration with Thug, stating:
“Wassup? We gon’ make some history?”
Unclear Timing Raises Questions
The exact timing of the phone call remains uncertain. Max B shared the clip on Monday, January 27, via Instagram Stories. Notably, Thug does not appear to be using a jail phone, suggesting the conversation occurred after Halloween 2023, when the YSL rapper was released in the RICO case.
Max B’s Plans for Music and Industry Domination
Nearly a year before his release, Max B called into Joe Budden’s podcast, where he expressed his ambitions:
“Listen, I’m not going to put myself in a box. I can’t wait to get in the studio. There’s a lot of artists out there, too many to name. I’m looking forward to working with the big names, the head honchos.”
He further emphasized his preference for collaborating with top-tier artists:
“I’m not going to put myself in a box. I’m open for all that but they gotta be A-list. I’m fucking with A-list. If this shit ain’t A-list, I can’t fuck with it.”
Max B’s Legal Journey
The 46-year-old rapper has been incarcerated since 2006 for his alleged involvement in a botched robbery at a New Jersey Holiday Inn, which turned fatal. He was convicted alongside his stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, and former girlfriend, Gina Conway.
However, in 2016, his original 75-year sentence was overturned when he entered a guilty plea for aggravated manslaughter. This led to a sentence reduction from 75 years to 20 years, followed by another reduction, ultimately trimming his sentence to 12 years.
Support from French Montana and Future Prospects
During his incarceration, Max B remained connected to the industry, receiving visits from his longtime friend and frequent collaborator, French Montana. These visits also reportedly gave Max opportunities to charm the female correctional staff.
With his release date drawing closer, Max B appears eager to reclaim his spot in hip-hop and make an impact once again. The potential collaboration with Young Thug could signal a significant comeback, and fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for the Harlem rapper.
